Georgetown's Master Planning Vision/a>

– For more than 225 years, Georgetown’s home on the bank of the Potomac in Washington DC has been central to the Georgetown experience. As our mission has grown our campus has evolved. As our presence develops across the city we have an extraordinary opportunity to reimagine the future of our historic campus. The interactions in our classrooms and laboratories offer transformative experiences creating breakthrough collaborations and resolving the world’s hardest challenges. Our vision is coming to life inspired by beloved spaces like Healy Lawn and Dahlgren Quad. We are connecting the learning and social hubs of campus with exciting walkways making it easier to travel from one location to another and enhancing green spaces to ensure greater interaction and a more sustainable campus. What was once the edge of campus for many students will become a center of energy bringing a new student life corridor through the middle of the university, a new great lawn near Darnall Hall, Henle Village and the hospital will bring this student life corridor to the campus boundary inspiring new energy and spirit in the northern area of campus. Imagine this northern lawn, Leavey Center, Regents, new academic space, Harbin, Leo’s, Healey Family Student Center. Hubs of learning, research and social life connected. New buildings and strategic renovations will extend our vision of a place where open landscape, pedestrian walkways unite our campus providing opportunities for active learning and 21st century laboratories. Below the ground, physical improvements will enhance our efficient and sustainable infrastructure systems while above ground more trees will provide shade making for a greener campus. Georgetown’s future as a vibrant and interactive place is already taking shape. The Healey Family Student Center transforms an existing space into an innovative hub of student life overlooking the Potomac River. Two of the campus’s original buildings now provide modern student living experiences. The John R Thompson Jr Intercollegiate Athletics Center offers new training and academic facilities to support more than 750 students. Our new sustainably designed residence hall brings ground floor activity to a key pedestrian corridor connecting students living in the north to the heart of campus and improved transportation systems keep traffic away from our pedestrian walkways. As we look forward, guided by our tradition, we believe place is essential to the Georgetown experience where moments of purposeful interaction can change lives. Thank you for being a part of our vision and our future.
