if you’re watching this then you know how important technology is in our day-to-day lives but for so many young people across america the school day is the one time they are disconnected just last week i spoke with students in my home state over a webcam from my office here in washington d.c thank you all so much for joining me online today to talk about how we can use technology for learning my name is alex and the purpose of the conversations was to hear directly from them how we can make technology work better in our classrooms what do you think’s working well what’s not working so well one of the good things that i like is are the gadgets on the computers another device i think works really well they also shared ideas of what they want to see in the future i think that we should consider using games for learning i think digital textbooks are a great thing for college-bound students i think that they definitely need the skills to take an online class and they should have that experience i’m working here in congress to pass legislation that would help schools get the technology they need and the training for teachers to use it effectively we need to use the technology to revolutionize the way we approach teaching and learning the way it’s been done in other sectors when i go to amazon.com the recommendations and products that i see are going to be very different from what you will see if you visit the site that’s because amazon uses technology and data to adapt and personalize the experience to better fit the unique needs of its visitors schools can do the same thing technology allows teachers to create a unique customized learning experience for all students in ways no teacher in today’s crowded classrooms could ever have time for so we need to make sure all students have access to technology that provides a customized connected and engaging learning experience but i need your help talk to your elected officials tell them why you think this is so important and i assure you your thoughts will make a difference thank you
